Introduction of Carbon Tax: Latest News
As we have previously informed you (here), the CBAM Regulation will come into effect in October 2023. The European Commission published proposed implementing guidance that can be found for example here. Comments on this proposal can be submitted by 3 July 2023 (more information is available here).
The proposal addresses regulation of a transition period from 1 October 2023 through 31 December 2025 and primarily regulates the reporting duty for importers of specified goods and the calculation of direct and indirect emissions. A duty to submit reports will be imposed in the transition period. For the time being, importers will not be obliged to pay any financial compensation.
